Growing up a huge baseball fan, I was a Yankee fan growing up. I think seeing them when the late 90s, early 2000s, when I was a young kid, it sort of just resonated with me.
It was definitely difficult when I was younger. Early years in the minor leagues, and then my dad told me "control what you can control." And that sort of resonated with me a lot. My high school coach went to Ithica. He sort of ran our high school programs similar to how Ithica had run it. And he said, "Tim, it's a great opportunity to go there. It'll be a stepping stone." It wasn't always just about baseball. I mean, they helped me grow up as an individual and as a man and I wouldn't be where I am today without any of them.
